In the recent times, the significance of visual effects (VFX), graphics & animation in tamil movies is huge.
It helps the film-makers to recreate an era or simply enhance the natural surroundings.
But it is not really necessary to impose too much of these technologies into a movie, especially when it is of no use.
This blog is all about some of those unnecessary cosmetic elements that you can see in Tamil movies.
#1 Wasted – The Long One
You might have seen this movie a multiple times. It’s everyone’s favorite.
But have you ever thought why it was needed in that movie?
It’s the “Long Snake” from the movie “Chandramukhi“. 😉
Every cast of this movie had a need, be it the “Karuppu Kaai Maid” or the “Small Girl Bommi“!😛
Every time I see it on screen, I am reminded of our Honourable N**O. 😛
Some similarities between the both,
- Come on screen during non-essential times
- Do some weird stuffs and make people believe that it is the best
- Stay in people’s memory for years while not serving it’s purpose
PS: ** above can be replaced with “am“. 😉
#2 Wasted – The Godly Figure
A Godly figure is someone who is deeply religious & shows obedience to the rules of their religion.
But that is not exactly what I am referring here.
It’s about a figure who is dressed as a God!! 😛
Kajal Agarwal from the song “Paisa note uh thedi pathan – Comali“.
This is not my favorite, but these YouTube algorithms plays this song automatically in my playlist.
It is really annoying to see her dressed as a God and people dressed as bhakths & worshiping her.
Just for the sake of this part of lyrics “Saami Sela Pol irrukum Nee mattum than Venum“, the director have come up with this amazing VFX.
Apdiye indha 👇😋 lyrics paathu Kajal uh Gandhi maadiri dress pannama vitteengaley.
Paisa Nota Uththu Paathen
Gandhi ya thaan Kaanom
Un Mugam Than Theriyudhu Enna Panna Naanum
With a specs and dhothi, can’t even imagine her daw . 😉
#3 Wasted – The Captain
Time travel movies have always been interesting to watch and using VFX as a part of them seems justifying.
One such movie is “24“.
More than 60 percent of this film involves VFX,
- The rain sequence where the protagonist freezes rain
- Shot where the camera pulls backwards from a room to reveal the Chennai city
- The stadium sequence where Surya goes back in time to freeze time
Ellamey okay than except,
“Dhoni” from the movie “24“.
En da popcorn, water, smoke, flags lam freeze frame la pottenga okay, but Dhoni?
Romba over ya.
Avar biography movie laye avar vara mattarey daw. 😉
Seri edho claps ku aasa pattu panni irukkeenga okay, Selfie edukaradhulam toooo muchu..
Imagine what if your daddy(Sivakumar) was there? Both you and phone damaal aagi irukum!!😆😃
#4 Wasted – The Collateral Damage
In the above films we were able to point out just 1 or 2 unwanted placement of technology.
But there is one movie that became a total collateral damage because of its full length animation.
This is a motion capture film directed by a Woman whose surname changed more than twice. 😉
The movie “Kochadaiyan” directed by Soundarya (Surnames are subjected to market risks).
Though the film seems like a sincere effort, the end product wasn’t satisfactory.
Nearly all of the animated characters suffered from some health problems.
Dead eyes and wonky animation makes you feel like you are watching an extended video game. 😆😃
I still remember this conversation with my dad,
Me: Padathuku ticket book panni irukan, polama?
Dad: Okay polamey!!
We went to the movie ten minutes late and this happened during the interval,
Dad: Hey en innum hero va eh kammikala? Yaaru hero?
Me: Edhu yaaru hero uh??? Naan paravala paa.
Ennaku side actors than yaarunu therla, ana unnaku Rajini uh vey therilayaa 🙂 Miga Sirappu!!
Dad: Ennadhu idhu Rajini padam uh 🙂
The story was at its best and if this movie was shot with real characters, it would have been celebrated like Bahubali. 😛
#5 Wasted – The A movies
A is for Action!!
C’mon guys don’t think of something else!! This is a very decent blog you see. 😉
Action scenes need CG/VFX, I totally agree.
But oru nyayam vendama. Ishtathukku eduka vendiyadhu!!
- Vijayakanth’s bullet shot on head
- Vivegam Introduction scene
- Vijay jumping on the bridge
- Rajini falling from the helicopter
One which irritated everyone the most was,
“Car flying scene in Aambala Aambala”!!
I can relate this car scene to one recent template,
The earth is so clean that you can see Aambala car flying in the Air. 😉
Honorable Mention: Everybody praised Vishal for his efforts flying but we all failed to praise the car driver Vaibhav who actually made the car fly😋
Indha blog ungaluku samarpanam 😋
